Baltimore went ahead for good in the top of the 4th inning when they tallied 2 runs on 4 hits. Baltimore totaled 15 hits on the afternoon. Cuellar(12-5) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Sam McDowell(9-9) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 11 hits and 6 walks in 8 innings. 'Cuellar pitched a gem of a game', Alvin Dark recounted. 'He kept our batters off balance the entire game.'
