Kekich(2-9) was very good in the win. He surrendered only 4 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings dropping his ERA from 5.09 to 4.72. New York (AL) had 7 hits for the night. Mike Cuellar(12-7) ended up with the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 6 hits in 7 innings. 'Kekich pitched a gem of a game', Earl Weaver recounted. 'He kept our batters off balance the entire game.'
