The final score was the Baltimore Orioles 3, the Detroit Tigers 2. Baltimore scored 1 run in the decisive top of the 7th inning. Dave McNally(13-3) was helped out by Dick Hall who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 4th save. Mike Kilkenny(10-6) absorbed the loss. 'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his best stuff,' Earl Weaver said after the game. 'McNally did not have command of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to pitch!'
