Adair had a big day at the plate. He lined a single in the 4th inning, doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 5th inning and ripped a one-base hit which was good for two runs in the 7th inning. Kansas City lit up the scoreboard in the 7th inning with 4 runs on 6 hits. Kansas City kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings. Jim Rooker(8-5) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Tom Hall(5-7) was charged with the loss. He was unable to control the Kansas City offense and allowed 9 hits and 4 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings. 'We really needed this win' said Joe Gordon. 'That first drink of water at the end of a drought sure does taste good!' Luis Aparicio enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He laced a one-base hit in the 4th inning and launched a rocket-shot out of the park for a Grand Slam homerun in the 8th inning. Even though they scored in 5 different innings, Oakland was not able to pull off the win. Don Secrist(3-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. The Baltimore fans didn't appreciate the big day Petrocelli had.
