Woody Woodward came up to bat and lined a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. Atlanta was retired without difficulty in the 9th. The victory was credited to George Culver(5-7) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. Wayne Granger was credited with his 8th save. Ron Reed(6-13) was charged with the loss. Roof was unconscious all evening. The Seattle fans hated to see him approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He smacked a three-run homer in the 2nd inning, lost the ball over the fence for three runs in the 3rd inning and lined a one-base hit in the 7th inning. Oakland ended up with 16 hits for the game while Seattle had 12. Catfish Hunter(10-9) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the win. George Brunet(5-5) took the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 7 hits and 3 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings. Oakland won for the 7th straight time. Hank Bauer was clearly happy after the game -- 'Everything is clicking for us right now.'
