Both teams had scored 2 runs after nine full innings. Finally, Minnesota pulled the game out in the 10th inning. John Roseboro doubled. Two outs later Rod Carew stepped in and he doubled giving Minnesota the win as 37,693 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Minnesota had 7 hits for the afternoon. Boswell(13-10) finished the game allowing 2 runs in the victory. Dick Hall(5-4) absorbed the loss in relief. Boswell was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of the game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm felt great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only hope that I can do it again next time out!'
