McDowell(17-14) was simply too much for the Seattle batters. He surrendered only 2 hits and no walks in 9 innings. McDowell whiffed an impressive total of 15 Seattle batters. The left-handed McDowell had his no-hit bid broken up by Steve Barber who tripled with two outs in the 6th inning. Seattle was retired without difficulty in the bottom of the 9th. Barber(6-9) was the loser. He was touched for 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings. 'Everything felt great' McDowell said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody tonight.'
