The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. Finally, New York (AL) prevailed in the 10th inning. Downing led off and he smacked a single. After an out was recorded, Jerry Kenney stepped in and he delivered a one-base hit. Kenney was safe on a stolen base. Murcer was up next and he lofted a three-run bomb resulting in an exciting win for New York (AL) and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. New York (AL) finished with 10 hits in the victory. Downing(8-10) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Vicente Romo(7-6) ended up with the loss in relief. He was not very effective, surrendering 3 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. 'I had a big day, but there's a lot of credit to go around' Murcer said. 'We played well together as a team.'
