California came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning with 2 runs on 2 hits. Brian Downing was the sparkplug when he cracked a solo homerun. After an out was recorded, Ruppert Jones came up and he blasted a solo shot. Boston had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
