The game was deadlocked at 6 after nine full innings. Baltimore won the hard fought contest in the 12th inning. After two outs Eddie Murray hit a single. Fred Lynn next to the plate and he drew a walk. Gary Roenicke then doubled giving Baltimore the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. For the game Baltimore out-hit Boston 14 to 11. The victory was credited to Tippy Martinez(3-2) who went 3 and 1/3 innings, allowing no runs. Bruce Kison(2-4) took the loss in relief.
